{Post #717} Fly Away...

I'm almost done sharing the 25 Advent Calendar tags I made... just three left and this is the first of those three:

I realized that I really like to die cut. So, I decided to die cut a bird cage and the bird inside, using a Tim Holtz Alterations die. Fun. Fun. But BORING. Boring because the blue paper I used for the bird cage just wasn't interesting enough.

So... I broke out some Stickles and "stickled" the bird cage.

Yes... much better.

I colored an additional chipboard bird (Maya Road) with vintage photo distress ink and added it outside the cage. Finally, I put some Cosmo Cricket Tiny Type on the tag and it was complete.

{Post #716} The Tag that Killed Me:

OK... in my mind, this tag looked so cool. On paper... this tag looked so cool... when it was done, this tag DID NOT look cool... and

on my kitchen floor... it looked even less cool.

I had this brainiac idea that I would fill a vintage bottle full of Martha Steward micro beads... RED. yeah. That's the ticket.

And, using my handmade funnel, I did just that. Then I made a little arrangement out of some floral picks I found and stuck them down in the bottle. Next, I carefully punched holes in the tag with my Crop-A-Dile and used my baker's twine to engineer/tie that bad boy down.

I hate it. Period.

But, I photographed it anyway. And, as I was taking the picture... the... board... started... to... tip... over.... BAM! Down it went on the kitchen floor.

And the bottle broke. {No tears were shed over that one.}

And there were a zillion-catrillion little red micro beads all over my kitchen.

Plus small pieces of broken glass.

Bah. Humbug.

But it's ok. I seriously hated the tag.

It was Karma, baby.

Karma.

{Post #715} The Giant At Sign...

I'm a little busy this week, getting things completed and ready to the holidays. I wanted to make a super quick tag, so I found a large chipboard shape to use {the notorious "at" sign} and colored it to coordinate with the other days.
The I put some cheesecloth and thickers in the mix and called it D.O.N.E.

Lame, yes... but done!! And that's the key. Stop back again... only FOUR tags left and the next one... well, almost killed me.

{Post #714} One of my Favorites..

I think this tag is SERIOUSLY C.U.T.E.

I used ginormous photo corners and stacked them up to make a Christmas Tree.

I rolled some brown paper at the bottom, to create the tree trunk. The snowflakes are Maya Road and I colored them with Colorbox Ink.

I doodled around the edges of the tree to add a little extra detail and there's a Maya Road Star stick pin at the top, because every Christmas Tree needs a tree topper!!

{Post #713} Celebrate!

I really like how this tag turned out... I was able to cut the paper so the word "Celebrate" was on the edge and the pointy finger was just in the right place!!

Then, I made a rosette using a Tim Holtz Alteration die. I punched a center out of kraft paper and put a smaller circle of vintage sheet music on top... stuck in a couple of decorative pins (Maya Road) and then decided I wanted it to look like a winner's ribbon from the fair.

To do that, I just cut a short length of wide ribbon, folded it in half and using a piece of string, carefully folded the ribbon over the string and tied it underneath the rosette.

I stamped some "filler" at the bottom of the tag and hung it up on the Advent Calendar!

The countdown is on... only SIX tags left.
